Too late for turtle necks?

Top - River Island | Jeans - Miss Selfridge | Heels - New Look | Earrings - Select Fashion |

Are turtle necks completely out of fashion now because I'm still loving mine! So much so I've brought it out the back of my wardrobe to style up for the perfect day to night outfit - you know if afternoon cocktails decide to turn into a taxi home at 2am with a pizza? We've all been there!

It's never been warm enough to wear this grey sleeveless turtle neck and I figured since the weather was slightly humid it would be perfect to pair with some white jeans for a Summer look - although it doesn't exactly look like Summer outside I thought the grey reflected the type of weather we've been having!

I completed my look with my bargain £10 heels from New Look - which are a size too big but its nothing some insoles can't fix! My beautiful Michael Kors bag which gave the outfit a little bit of colour, my silver Fossil watch, Accessorise ring and a pair of triangle drop earrings sent from the amazing Touchstone Accessories! These earrings are perfect for any events or occasions such as weddings and proms, you can adjust the length of the earring by pulling the chair through your ear - which does feel odd but definitely not uncomfortable!

Ivy Pop-Up Shop

Hey Guys!

I hope everybody is loving this beautiful weather and getting nice and tanned! I haven't seen much of it unfortunately because I've been so busy recently however I did get sun burnt from my run the other day so hopefully that turns to some sort of brown colour ready for my holiday which I am soooo ready for!

This warm weather is a brilliant excuse for a new Summer wardrobe and at Ivy's Pop-Up event last Sunday they had the most perfect collection! I went down for a few hours to do some photography showcasing their new collection on their models and also to have a browse - obviously and I have picked out all my favourites to show you guys which you can find at www.ivy-online.co.uk

Photo's above taken with a Canon 1100D

To the event I wore:
Office Shoes

I was taking full advantage of the nice weather by getting my white jeans out and I've never worn white jeans before so I was so self conscious thinking 'oh what if I sit on something or spill something down me' - which is me all over! But thankfully I never! I loved styling them with my powder blue cami and grey pointed flats which gave it that Summery look - although I wish I brought a jacket!

Ivy will be hosting another pop-up shop event soon so I really hope to see all you locals there!

Lace Loving

Hey Guys!

I can officially say that I've finished uni until September - how exciting! To celebrate I had a little shopping spree to treat myself I thought it was only fair...

Lately Ted Baker have been trying to promote more of a smart casual look and I thought I would help out by sharing my latest outfit from Ted! I thought this 'Esti' tank top was absolutely beautiful as soon as I set eyes on it and for £89 I thought that was reasonable Ted prices, the lace and edge detailing gives it quite a sports luxe look. I teamed it with these amazing Ted 'Kkassy' jeans which are an amazing fit and a great colour! I also put my white New Look sandals which I thought looked really Summery and kept the cool casual look.

For the cooler days I thought it would be nice to wear a light weight blazer, this one is a one from Dorothy Perkins a couple years ago but I know Missguided and Primark sell similar coloured blazers! I also finished the outfit off with my lovely Micheal Kors bag and this fabulous 'Celaeno Collar' that I was sent from the amazing Lyra! Its a great study, well made collar and is adjustable so can be worn lower if you were wearing a scoop or V neck top. As you can see it also looks lovely with a high neck top - I can imagine it would look great with a small turtle neck too!

Have a look at the Lyra Shop collection as they have such a great range and amazingly affordable prices! Also check out the Ted Baker department in House Of Fraser as they have 20% for today and tomorrow only - you don't want to miss that!

What are the best jeans?

This is a question I ask myself from time to time... what are the best jeans?
There are so many different brands that sell jeans, they all have their own special unique points about them, they're all different prices, cuts and sizes. Since I've been asking myself this I thought that you might too so I've decided to review some high street mid price brands against the most well known denim brand... Levi's.

First up is Topshop's black super high waisted Joni Jeans. I know that they seem to be everybody's favourite however they are definitely not mine! I do love how high waisted they are because you can wear bralets and crop tops with them without showing too much skin. They also look really nice on a night out and they seem to pull you in and look slimmer on the legs, I also like how they make my bum look bigger too which is always a bonus, but I do think it looks a bit funny because the pockets seem to look too far away from each other!

My negative is that I think they are very tight around the waist! I'm usually a size 8 and I have tried a size 10 but they seem to be too big, so neither size is good for me! Because of this I tend to buy the size 8 as I don't want them to fall down, I've also heard that on some people they tend to sag because the elastic in them goes funny which definitely isn't good! I also think the colour doesn't last very long in these when you wash them and they are not that old too yet they seem to be turning more of a grey colour! Unfortunately I won't be buying any more Topshop Jeans for a while!

These jeans are priced at £36 which is a pretty good price especially if you have a student card you get an extra 10% off. I have slashed these jeans myself on the knee!

My second pair of jeans are my River Island skinny jeans, they are usually priced at around £40 and unfortunately you can't use a student card, unless they are holding an event.

Personally I love these jeans and I can't find anything bad to say about them! They are a great fit everywhere; waist, bum and legs, usually when I see super skinny I think to myself I definitely cannot get in them theres not a chance so I tend to go a size up and they still fit perfectly. I love how they make my bum loo quite round and perky which is definitely what every girl looks for in a pair of jeans right!? River Island has such a large choice of jeans with so many cuts and sizes you will definitely find your perfect pair there!

My third pair of jeans is the Miss Selfridge black super high waisted jeans which I do love! I might as well live in these because they are so comfortable, they don't crease as easily on the back of the knee, which can genuinely feel uncomfortable when your sitting down, so they keep their comfort. They're also a great fit around the waist, bum and legs and they don't look or feel too tight. These jeans have kept their colour quite well, although I haven't had them as long as my Topshop ones I haven't seen any signs of colour wear yet.

Priced at £34 you definitely can't go wrong if your looking for some mid price range jeans that are a good quality. Also at the moment Miss Selfridge has 20% off when you use a valid student card instore and online so don't miss out!

My fourth and final pair of jeans are from the infamous Levi's. They are a high rise skinny jean and have a great high quality denim feel, they also come at a price... £80! I understand this definitely is not ideal for everybody as it definitely wasn't for me but I did get them in a 20% off event at House of Fraser which did lower the price.

These jeans are a great fit on the bum and legs as they have been designed for all-over closeness but after one wear and wash they got too big on the waist. So big that I have to wear a belt with them! This is definitely not a good look if I was wanting to wear a crop top because all you would see is a horrible belt! I bought a 26 waist which is an 8 as I haven't been a size 6 in years, also I just couldn't get my legs in the size 6, and I actually feel quite disappointed that they have gone like this because they are so expensive and I expected a much better quality from Levi's.

If you were wanting to buy some Levi's I would possibly recommend a jegging, as my Levi jeggings I don't seem to have a problem with. The good thing is that they do half sizes too so you could get an in-between size e.g if your usually a 28 waist you could get a 27" pair which is definitely handy!

Overall my personal opinion is that the River Island jeans are the best. I've had these jeans for years, they've never lost their shape or colour and they're still on trend and able to buy. I know I haven't really reviewed a range of prices but I wanted to review a mid price range as I think you get what you pay for in terms of quality, unfortunately that wasn't the case with the Levi's but the River Island ones were the second highest price yet came out on top.

I hope this has helped for when your thinking about buying some new jeans and I'm going to leave you with an amazing tip I learned:

Instead of washing your jeans all the time, especially if they don't have any marks on them, put them in the freezer for 24hours as a way of washing them!
